A Recruiter’s Note to Elon: 5 Things I Did Last Week

Elon, while you were busy revolutionizing space travel and AI, reprogramming X’s algorithm, and downsizing the Federal government, I (an independent recruiter) had a pretty eventful week last week. No, I didn’t launch a rocket or design a humanoid robot, but I did make some solid moves in my little corner of the recruiting world. Here’s a quick rundown of five things I accomplished.

1. I Widened Our Talent Pool

I maintain extensive databases and relationships with passive candidates who aren’t actively searching but may be open to opportunities. This week, I widened our talent pool by reaching out to several highly qualified ex-federal specialists who found themselves suddenly without jobs. Thanks, by the way.

2. I Mastered Sourcing Techniques and AI Tools

Already a master of Linked In Recruiter and Sales Navigator, Boolean Search, Email Automation, Social Recruiting, and half a dozen recruitment tech tools, this week I moved into expert-level on a couple of AI tools and sat in 2 software demos.

3. I leaned into my Referral and Recruiting Networks

I accessed my network of recruiters across the country who are also sourcing, screening, and referring candidates, dramatically increasing the efficiency of my searches and expanding my candidate pool. Instead of working in isolation, we pool our candidate databases, share top talent, and leverage each other’s industry expertise to match the right professionals with the right opportunities.

4. I curated Market Insights & Competitive Intelligence

I took a deep dive into data to understand hiring trends, salary benchmarks, and competitor activity to help my client attract top talent. I reached out to my professional network and decision-makers across industries to get their overall projections for the next two quarters. I learned which companies were pushing forward with expansion and acquisition plans and were hiring, and which have put plans on hold.

5. I Launched Aggressive Candidate Outreaches

This week, I launched several candidate outreach campaigns to find, attract, engage, and convert high-priority candidates. I developed robust recruitment and employer brand marketing strategies, deploying on Linked In, professional networks and associations, social recruiting, referral and recruiting networks, and specialized job boards, and using AI tools for data collection and automation.

Elon, while I may not be engineering the future of space travel, I’ve certainly made strides on Earth: I placed 3 candidates this week!

As we continue to “work” together, I’m confident that the roles I’m currently sourcing will not only be filled efficiently but will also contribute to the growth of business and America alike. Stay tuned – big things are on the horizon.
